Reference Management and Citation Policy

To uphold academic integrity and align with international publication standards, all researchers are required to use reference management software— preferably EndNote —for inserting and formatting citations in research papers and theses.

Citation Requirements
- References must follow the specific citation style mandated by the target journal (e.g., Vancouver, APA, Harvard, or journal-specific formats).
- The selected style in EndNote must match the journal’s author guidelines precisely.

Manual Entry Prohibited
Manual typing of references is not permitted. Authors must ensure the following:

- In-text citations and reference lists are generated automatically using EndNote.
- The citation style is verified for accuracy before submission.
-EndNote fields remain active until the manuscript is finalized to allow for seamless updates and formatting.

This policy ensures accuracy, consistency, and compliance with global publishing standards.

References: Authors should follow the citation style recommended by the journal and provide a list of references at the end of the article.

The Vancouver style is a citation style used for citation. It is a numeric citation style, meaning that references are numbered in the order in which they appear in the text, and the corresponding numbers are used in the reference list. The best practice for citation list is to use EndNote or similar to insert citation

When citing articles with a DOI (Digital Object Identifier), the DOI should be included at the end of the reference. Here's an example of a Vancouver style reference with a DOI:

  1. Leabi, O., Abed, A., Daway, A. Thyroid Functions in Females with Anal Diseases. Basrah Journal of Surgery, 2023; 29(1): 55-60. doi: 10.33762/bsurg.2023.138515.1046

In this example, the reference number is 1, and the DOI is included at the end of the reference after the page numbers. The DOI is preceded by "doi:" and followed by a space before the actual DOI number.

The article titled "Thyroid Functions in Females with Anal Diseases" was authored by Leabi, O., Abed, A., and Daway, A. and published in the Basrah Journal of Surgery in 2023, volume 29, issue 1, pages 55-60. The article has a DOI of 10.33762/bsurg.2023.138515.1046.

In order to get the correct DOI you can submit the reference list using the cross reference website https://doi.crossref.org/simpleTextQuery

Tips:

No line breaks within an individual reference.

When submitting multiple references present as a numbered list.
