Basrah Journal of Surgery,
2005, Volume 11, Issue 1, Pages 100-109
AbstractThe different modes of injury to the heart extend from motor vehicle accidents to penetrating injury by a pencil tip1. The incidence of penetrating cardiac injuries appears to be rising, presumably because of an increase in civilian violence2.
Penetrating cardiac injuries are still a challenge for surgeons because of their difficulty as to the diagnosis, bad prognosis and the necessity of acute operation3.
